A lifetime resident of the Hudson Valley, I began the process of becoming an Academic Language Therapist/Dyslexia Specialist in 1996 when it became apparent my son, Travis, required a different approach to reading. Travis has multiple medical and learning obstacles to overcome; fortunately, he has made significant progress in his reading and writing abilities due to the multisensory teaching methods I employ. I also have a daughter, Hannah, who is a natural reader and has excelled in a private school and home schooling environment. She also enjoyed the benefits of my multisensory teaching approach through supplemental training.
In order to give both of my children a balanced childhood and upbringing, I found it necessary to further my education. Through this dedication came a commitment to help other students reach their potential using teaching methods that focus on their strengths. Now that I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist with many years of experience teaching a wide variety of children, I train other teachers to provide a multisensory approach to reading.
